The new biodistrict

The Biodistrict is a geographical area, not administrative but functional, in which an alliance is established between farmers, citizens, associations and public administrations, for the sustainable management of resources. This synergy is achieved on the basis of the principles and biological practices of production and consumption (short supply chain, purchasing groups, organic public canteens).

In the Biodistrict, the promotion of organic products is inextricably combined with the promotion of the territory and its peculiarities in order to achieve full development of its economic, social and cultural potential.

After three years, with the participation and work of about twenty farms in the Amatrice, Alce Nero and Legambiente areas, the idea of characterizing this territory in a large enlarged Biodistrict, the Terra Viva Biodistrict, emerged strongly.

We involved the municipal administration and invited the representatives of the institutions concerned. Interlocution with the regional offices has been initiated and a road map has been hypothesized which envisages the involvement of the largest number of economic and social operators in the area.

To consolidate regulations shared with a greater number of farmers in the region, we have entered into an agreement with an agronomic consultancy company to offer the territory, but at the company's headquarters, services and consultancy to join and promote the Biodistrict.
